I'm using a Intel Black Creek D955XBK motherboard with a Dual Core Intel Pentium D 820, 2800 MHz (14 x 200) - and would like to upgrade to the IntelĀ® PentiumĀ® 4 Processor Extreme. 1. Is this upgrade possible? 2. What changes will I have to make to the memory or other? 3. What will be the overall improvement I can expect? Thanking you in advnce Barry Cross"

According to Intel's support page for your board (http://www.intel.com/support/motherb....htm#pentiumee) it looks like your board will support the chip if it is the correct revision and has the latest BIOS (you can check the revision by looking on the actual board).
As far as performance goes, you'd probably see more performance if you upgraded to something that has more cores. I'm not sure what kind of deal you're getting for the chip, but it may be a better idea to invest in a newer platform. It's hard to tell exactly what your situation is without more information. |
