Conclusion:
So after all that, how does the Corsair Vengeance 2000 7.1 gaming headset fair? Well for the retail price of $149.00, this headset is damn nice for the price. Making it even better, is that it can be readily had for less than $100 on the net. The sound reproduction is amazing and the amount of bass these put out can be downright offensive at times…in a good way. Explosions, in-game effects, and music tracks are given real “life” with the meaty 50mm drivers. I have evaluated many gaming headsets in the past years, for both professional and personal purposes, and the Corsair Vengeance 2000 is one of the best I have had a chance to experience. Corsair really did their homework here, because it can’t be easy to design a headset with such a complete sound that is both comfortable to wear and so intuitive to use. The only negative, if I can even call it that, is the 7.1 is virtualized and didn’t quite live up to my surround standards. However, I am comparing the separation to my 7.1 home theater setup, which is unfair…since we are talking about comparing a home theater to a headset. Additionally, there are so few games on the market that support 7.1 surround that it’s almost a moot debate. So where surround snobs (like myself) may be a little disappointed by the 7.1 surround sound this headset reproduces, the general gamer will likely be blown away for the chump change these can be had for on the net. If you’re looking for a nice gaming headset for your PC gaming rig, the performance/price ratio on these will make you regret passing these up.
