Computex 2008 Product Highlights and Events
ATP
ATP is probably most well known for providing those ultra small and durable USB memory drives you see nearly everywhere. At computex they were showing off a new Earthdrive thats actually made from . . . get this. . . Bio-Recycled corn. Thats right its a corn drive. So when your done with it you can eat it. Remember that!
Gigabyte
Gigabyte has on display their version of the UMPC the M912 which sports an 8.9 inch touch screen at 1280 x 768 which is amazingly very readable and clear. It is also a tablet PC and will come in several colors and designs. Shown here is the pearlized white M912.While we like the overall design the colored buttons are not for us and the coloring on the models on display seemed to bleed into other areas. This could be due to them being very early prototypes but we hope its not an issue on the final designs.
DFI
We passed by the DFI booth and saw something interesting. It seems that someone there didn't install the video cards correctly into the display rig. Frankly we are surprised that the cards didn't break.
MSI
We were graciously invited to the MSI party at which we met the CEO of MSI as well as took part in several games and contests. I was robbed of a nice MSI motherboard which I should have won but was compensated by winning the newly announced and as of yet unreleased MSI Wind notebook PC. There is every chance that we may be the first in the USA to get one of these and will certainly bring you coverage of what we believe is the best designed UMPC based on the new Atom.
