The Altec Lansing comes packaged in your standard cardboard box, but with attractive blue accents and many pictures of the product. Once it's opened up, we see that the speaker itself is carefully protected by a eggcrate carton and padding. The manual, speaker wire, and power adapter are also packaged quite comfortably, and shouldn't break during shipping. I was glad to see this since shipping companies usually punt the box off of the truck.

After the components are unpacked, we see that the SoundBar comes with a long speaker cable for use with your computers output, as well as a short cable for auxiliary input. The power adapter is quite small, and shouldn't crowd your power strip. The power button also doubles as the volume knob, and is quite large and convenient. A soft blue light glows from the strip above it when the speaker is turned on. If the speaker is turned off, the blue light flashs slowly, and doesn't harm the eyes or light up a dark room too much.

Having a look at the back of the speaker, we see both the DC power and audio input. As you would expect, the power adapter is plugged into the DC power input, and your computer audio input just so happens to be plugged into the audio input on the SoundBar. Looking at the side of the speaker, we see our headphone and auxiliary input jacks. You know what to do here.
