Testing:
As the manufacturer suggests the On-Lap monitor has many different positions to maximise its usability, I tried to highlight some of the options below.

The stand format, is perfect for productivity multitasking, The GECHIC 13 in monitor sits next to the coputer and gives a vertical presentation, I like to store outlook and chat windows on htis format.

I am frequently connected to multiple putty sessions, and this view is perfect when i need to monitor multiple console outputs. I also found this particularly useful for watching netflix. with the over under nature it creates less of a distraction then a left right setup for your “unproductive” screens. These images also highlight the suction cup advantage of the monitor. The cables are long enough to support any need I could thing of, and the suction cups will adhere to any smooth surface.

The main use the suction cups allow for as shown above are two side by side screens or allowing those not on your side to view your screen. The On-Lap performed beautifully.
Driver free:
You may notice that I have tested the monitor on two different laptops. I actually tested it on three and I am very happy to report that the monitor is completely driver less on windows 7, windows xp, and Microsoft, Windows server 2008.
Conclusion:
Simply put, the Gechic On-Lap is a home run, the manufacturer set out to bring a simple, easy to use second monitor to the laptop world. The design seems to be well thought out and versatile. The usage is incredibly simple. They have accounted for almost the entire market share by utilizing HDMI and DSub(VGA), and it powers off of usb, meaning there is no additional power source needed. It can even be powered off of a USB power brick if you are concerned about battery life on the laptop. If your looking for more desktop real estate on your laptop for productivity, or if you need a simple to setup presentation device, this is it. There are a lot of options on how you use it, and we couldn’t find a flaw. This is Awesome hardware!!!
