and wardriving on open networks is not illegal, if they are not using WEP there is no effort for security and it is considered an open system. if you start messing with intellectual property on the network however, on a persons machine, it is illegal. my friends and i use it to get internet anywhere there is an open network, we also give advise to people whose networks are insecure if they are not with a simple flyer we have created.

thats just a thing we feel is honest and necessary to keep wardriving legal.

802.11a/b/g is very insecure, its just ridiculus when large networks use it with no security measures..

if you are interested in car computers there are a few things you need/should get:

a little electrical knowledge ( this is the main thing i need! )
spare battery
power inverter
LCD's are select
serial or other video display adapter for the LCD.
a good operating system, i do not suggest windows as it takes too long to boot, and it takes a lot more resources to run things smoothly. most unix-like OS's are much more efficient for these purposes ( mp3, movies, etc. )
some other suggested things include wireless pci nic, big HD, some cat-5 wall jacks lol and install them in your fuckin doors for wardrivin HAHAH
